I would add one thing: The employer is not only interviewing the applicant but, in a way, the applicant is also interviewing the employer!
In the example, it would mean that the experienced teacher can refuse the position herself.
While applying for a senior position last month, I literally got asked about mutexes and semaphores - something I only needed once in my life ten years ago during state exams.
Immediately, my points for the employer went down - they didn't seem to ask the important questions during hiring, so how can I trust them they will hire great colleagues to create an environment I want to be a part of?
